COMING SOON – THE WHEATBELT SERIES

There are lots of things we want to do with CLIRA. Two of those things are (a) promote regional towns and districts and (b) provide an opportunity for young people to tell their story.

And that’s exactly what The Wheatbelt Series is all about.

The Wheatbelt is a vast area in the south west of Western Australia, covering over 150,000 square kilometres and includes 42 local government areas and 200 towns. Over 75,000 people call the Wheatbelt Region home.

THE WHEATBELT SERIES

We will be inviting secondary school students across the Wheatbelt to write a story of up to 1500 words about their town or district. We plan to publish these stories, along with a photo also taken by our contributor on CLIRA’s dedicated The Wheatbelt Series page. This will give aspiring writers something to write about and somewhere to publish their work.

WHO CAN ENTER?

The program is open to any secondary school student who lives in the Wheatbelt Region of Western Australia. There are some ground rules that must be accepted on the application form.

WHEN WILL THE WHEATBELT SERIES START?

Our official start date is still being finalised but, at this stage, it is likely that the program will kick off in early 2026.

We are really excited to get started – follow us on our social media pages to keep up to date.
